TJ ASTRONOMY COMPETITION TEAM
A quantitative approach to Astronomy and Astrophysics
Welcome to the TJ Astro Team!
We strive to help the TJ community explore astronomy and astrophysics, which receives less coverage than the core science classes, to its fullest, with less grade pressure and a more problem-solving oriented approach.

Our club is open to everyone; there are no prerequisite courses or admission tests! Background experience and prior knowledge in Astrophysics would be helpful, but completely not needed. You can come join the club mid-year if you want as well! (though you will miss out on a lot of fun in the beginning of the year :(()
Join our facebook group, where we will make all our announcements, to stay updated!

Expand your knowledge in Astronomy
Every week, officers will be presenting lectures on various astronomy topics, including Parallax, Mars, Telescopes, Galaxies... and so much more!

Have fun solving interesting problems
All lectures will be accompanied by a problem set, which will give you creative insights into the topic and more practice solving problems!

Prepare for success in astronomy competitions
Our lecture topics and problem sets are centered around topics that come up in the USAAAO and other competitions, taking place on February and later.

Engage in fun hands-on
activities
We will occasionally have days without lectures to try new things on, such as building telescopes, potential guest lectures, etc.
